Diploma In Dialysis
Dialysis is a procedure required to remove waste, salt and extra water from the body of a patient whose kidneys have failed or are malfunctioning. Kidney malfunction is one of those diseases that require the patient to be under constant care and treatment. Let’s go on to understand the Dialysis procedure that a Dialysis Technician needs to manage. The procedure of dialysis involves machines and administration of fluids with constant supervision. Skilled healthcare practitioners commonly called as Dialysis Technicians can do the job with appropriate knowledge of operating the machines and proper training of the procedure.
A diploma holder after the Dialysis Technician course is well equipped to set up the machines, mix dialysate according to formula, and prime the dialyzer with Saline. The course also includes the personal aspect of interacting with the patients and preparing them for the procedure. Apart from medical care, technicians are also expected to offer anxiety relief and psychological morale boosting to patients by explaining the real procedure of the treatment and functioning of the machine. Likewise the students are also trained to judge the patient health based on their response to dialysis. This is done by monitoring venous and arterial pressures, fluid replacement and patient reactions. The students are expected to be trained to check the functioning and safety of machines in case of changes temperature, pressure and conductivity.
